Hmm…what shall we talk about today?
Symptoms of coronavirus? Tips for a healthy diet? Or, homemade treatments for flu?
Well, we live in a weird world with strange people who love stories about bizarre stuff. So, why not go for some quirky but wonderful health facts?
#1. Urinating in a Pool Can Be Dangerous for Your Heart
Peeing in the swimming pool is no longer a secret.
It’s not a gross habit but rather a concomitant part of the swimming culture that’s even adopted by competitive swimmers.
Years ago, this habit used to cause controversies, sparking outrageous responses. However, today it seems that no one’s really bothered about it.
Should we?
Just because everyone’s doing it doesn’t mean it’s harmless.
For instance, that “pool smell’ which you assume to be chlorine odor is actually the scent of chloramine mixed with urine and studies proved that this chemical mixture could have dangerous outcomes like damage to the hearts and cancer.
Want to relieve yourself? There’s something you called “toilet”.
#2. Too Much Sitting Can Lead To an Early Death
There’s no denying it: we live a sedentary lifestyle.
I mean, we sit in our cars, we sit at our working desks, we sit at the dining table… overall, I can say we’ve been sitting too much and for too long. Not that it’s our fault but the current world we are living in where most things are being done in a desk-bound and inactive way.
But, I don’t see the link between extended periods of sitting and an early death.
See, recent studies have shown that this stationary position can increase the risk of dying early from certain medical conditions such as cancer and heart disease.
#3. Heart Attacks Happen Mostly on Mondays
Wait, what?
Sounds shocking but proven true by several studies that many, if not most, heart attacks take place on Mondays.
At this point in life, every Tom, Dick and Harry know how Mondays can be huge potholes in the path of life.
Monday is the most disliked horror story of the weekday, without mentioning the frustration when Sunday Blues start creeping in.
But, is that rationale?
I mean, I’ve always tried to make some progress and shift my dislike of Mondays, but all in vain.
Thing is, this hatred comes from being chained back to office after enjoying two sweet days of freedom. The mere thought of your office and your work responsibilities can trigger such a negative stress response that can pose a threat to your heart.
#4. Red Meat Can Make Your Body Odor Worse
Eww…your breath reeks. Your feet stink
I’ll be honest with you…even I went through these embarrassing situations and heard such denigrating comments.
Bad breath, smelly armpits or stinky feet can make up a very pesky and vexatious part of life.
But, did you know that consuming lots of red meat can submerge you deeper in the gloomy world and make matters worse?
It’s not me, but a 2006 research that proved how non-consumers of meat emitted a more pleasant smell and a more charming appeal.
#5. The Scent of Apples Can Ease Claustrophobia
People with claustrophobia experience a great deal of fear and anxiety when they are confined in enclosed spaces. Individuals suffering from this phobia are unable to ride in an elevator and face great trouble when stuck in the midst of a huge and tight crowd.
One surprising way to reduce their anxious reactions in such circumstances would be to make them smell a green apple. Apparently, the scent changes their perception and can make a space appear larger than what it really is.
#6. There’s a Higher Possibility You Can Die on Your Birthday Than on Any Other Day of the Year
Before you freak out (especially if it’s your birthday today), I want to add that this theory established by a 2012 study is not 100 % genuine.
With a potential risk of only 13. 8 %, some say that many stand at the point of dying on their birthdays than on any other normal days.
What do you think of these weird health facts?
